The Mumbai city is a home to many bollywood stars and is actually the centre of the Indian Film Industry, Bollywood. It was the combination of the word Bombay (now Mumbai) and the word Hollywood which conflated to produce the word Bollywood for the Mumbai-film based industry. The number of the films produced in this metropolitan city every year is the highest and therefore, is believed to be the largest movie industry across the whole world. The Bollywood films depict social and communal harmony, connecting the people and strengthening their bond.  The films of the India are based on emotional drama with addition of some mushy romantic songs, the dance, action and for sure the melodrama. The people of India enjoy watching these movies and this can be well witnessed through the daily crowd outside the theatres. The Mumbai city’s film industry is wide spread all over the city, one may come across a shooting of the film going on, which allow the common man to meet the flashy superstars of the Bollywood industry.

The movies produced in the metropolitan Mumbai city, are mostly Hindi films with actively, energetic musicals. The bollywood films however reflect the timeless stories of love, romance and sometimes the turmoil. Also, the Mumbai city is a cultural hub for the cultural events comprising of the best of Indian fraternity, the Indian classical music and the Indian dance artists from all across the nation. The NCPA or the National Center for the Performing Arts is the central centre of the Mumbai city for the cultural activities. Due to the increased demand and large audience following the Bollywood films, the Bollywood movies can now make large budget movies as well, set at the famous studious like the Hatfield House and the Blenheim Palace, United Kingdom. The directors spend lot of money on the sets and location because location and scenery plays a vital role in making a movie hit apart from the storyline, artists, acting, songs involved. The financial means to the movies i.e. the funds come from the private distributors mainly. In the Mumbai city, there is a long list of actors and actresses living here, to name the few; we have Shabana Azmi, Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Govinda, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan etc. Some of the hit bollywood movies are Devdas (2002), Laagan (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge(1995), Sholay (1975) etc.
