Mumbai is always known to be one of the safest cities of India where people can freely move around even late at night. However, things changed after the night when Keenan Santos and his friends were attacked by 12 to 15 men who were caring choppers, knives and stumps.
Everything c
ould have been different today if there wouldn’t be India’s match on that sad day or the drunken suspect would not have showed up at that particular point of time when Keenan and his friends were chatting right outside the restaurant after the match got over. The suspect passed bad comments on one of their female friend and started abusing them a lot. Any one of us would have done the same thing that Avinash and Reuben did, slapping the drunken guy. But nobody taught that things could go worst on that sad day.
The issue could have easily been avoided if they would have a small talk when the suspect arrived with others at the spot. However, Keenan and Reuben didn’t get a chance to do so as they straight away started stabbing them. Even after being wounded badly, both of them fought bravely and succeeded in saving life of their friends.
Avinash Solanki threw a ladder on the attackers and managed to pull Keenan and Reuben inside the restaurant away from attackers. Without wasting more time he rushed them to Kokilaben hospital where Keenan succumbed to his injuries in 15 to 20 minutes. Somehow, doctors were able to stabilize the condition of Reuben but after fighting for 10 long days, even he closed his eyes forever.
There were many guards and people on the spot but nobody stepped forward to help them even to rush them to the hospital. This has raised one very important question that we really have to think about “Is Mumbai City really safe?” The answer is, it is not especially when such mobsters are walking on the streets among us. We have to do something about them so that such thing could not happen in future.
We should be very thankful to Keenan and Reuben’s friends to raise their voice against such criminals to make our city a safe place to live. If we do not support them today then such or even worst things could happen to you in the near future. So raise your voice in order to live in peace and harmony.
